Review process

  1. Two reviewers from outside the Institute of Art History at the Jagiellonian University are appointed to evaluate each article.
  2. The author (authors) and reviewers do not know their identity (the so-called double-blind review process).
  3. The reviewer signs the declaration of no conflict of interest; a conflict of interest is considered to occur between the reviewer and the author:
  • direct personal relationships (kinship, legal relationships, conflict),
  • relationships of professional subordination,
  • direct scientific cooperation in the last two years preceding the preparation of the review.

The review shall be in writing and shall end with an unambiguous conclusion as to the admission of the article to publication or its rejection. In particular, the reviewers evaluate:

  • originality of the problem
  • correctness of adopted research methods
  • achieved goal (to what extent the author performed the research task set for himself)
  • erudition and the degree of use of bibliographic material
  • accuracy of the selection of illustrations
  • logic of the work structure / clarity and legibility of the argument, as well as linguistic and stylistic correctness
