Text Editing Principles

1. Please provide:

  • digital text (on CD or via e-mail) in the form of a standard typescript (font Times New Roman CE, 12 points, 1.5 lines and 2.5 cm margins)
  • summary of the article (max. volume 2 typewritten pages)
  • up to 6 keywords referring to the text in Polish and in English
  • collective bibliography placed at the end of the article
  • illustration for the article

2. Illustrations should be attached in a separate catalog (jpg, tif, cdr format), numbered, and with signatures and reference to the source or the author's name, while the text should contain links to illustrations. The author submitting the text is obliged to provide the editorial office of the journal with a written consent of the owner of the copyright of the photos attached to the text for their use in accordance with the contents of the agreements concluded with the author of the publication.

3. Development of a scientific apparatus. Starting from the vol. 14 of the Journal, the following system for the development of footnotes will be adopted:

Book: initial of the first and last name of the author (antiquity), title of the book (italics), place and year of publication, page numbers (page ranges should be given and the following should not be used: "p. 4 and n.", Etc.

An article from the journal: initial of the first and last name of the author (antiquity), title of the article (in italics), title of the journal (antiquity in quotes), volume number / yearbook (Arabic numerals using commonly used abbreviations t./R.), Year, or number / book / part [in case when pagination is not common within one year], exact numbers of quoted pages.

Articles in collective publications (post-conference materials, study collections, and memorial books): initial and author's name (antiquity), title of the article (in italics), [in:] title of the book (in italics), initial and last name of the editor (antiquity, preceded by an abbreviation) : ed.), place and year of publication, exact numbers of pages quoted.

If a book or publication is part of a publishing series, the name of the series and the volume number (antiquity) should be given in brackets after the place and year of publication.

Please use the Latin terms idem, eadem, eidem, ibidem in accordance with commonly used rules.

Please use long pauses between the page ranges given, e.g. "p. 1-2 "and for writing months verbally.

The first time the publication is referred to in the footnotes, a full bibliographic description should be given, and each time the initial name and surname of the author and a shortened title without an ellipsis and exact numbers of quoted pages should be provided.

In the case of quoting archival materials, we give in order: the name of the archive and its location (in the case of several times referring to materials from the same archive also the abbreviation), the signature, title documents / team, card numbers / pages.

4. Materials that do not meet the above rules will be sent back to the authors for correction.

5. We kindly ask you to provide scientific affiliations of the authors (the exact address of the represented scientific institution), as well as your home address, telephone number and e-mail address.
