Basic text rules

Reliability in science is one of its qualitative foundations. Readers should be sure that the authors of the publication in a transparent, reliable and honest way present the results of their work, regardless of whether they are its direct authors, or whether they used the help of a specialized entity (a natural or legal person). The proof of the ethical attitude of the researcher and the highest editorial standards should be the disclosure of information about entities contributing to the publication (substantive, factual, financial contribution, etc.), which is a manifestation of not only good manners, but also social responsibility.

The editorial board of the journal "Modus. Prace z historii sztuki/ Art HistoryJournal" applies the principles of publication ethics aimed at counteracting unfair publishing practices, in particular in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), https: // publicationethics .org.

Counterfeit examples are 'ghostwriting' and 'guest authorship'. We deal with 'ghostwriting' when someone made a significant contribution to the publication without revealing their participation as one of the authors or without mentioning his role in the acknowledgments included in the publication. We deal with 'guest authorship' ('honorary authorship') when the participation of a person signed as the author or co-author of the publication is negligible or not at all. In order to counteract this type of unfair activities, the editorial office of the journal uses the following solutions:

  • The editors declare that any detected cases of 'ghostwriting', 'guest authorship' will be disclosed, including notifying the relevant entities (institutions employing authors, scientific societies, associations of scientific editors, etc.).
  • The author is obliged to sign a written declaration confirming its authorship and that the submitted text has not been published anywhere before. In the case of articles written by more than one author, the editorial office requires disclosure of the contribution of individual authors in the publication, with the author reporting the manuscript as the main responsibility.
  • The author is obliged to provide information about research funding sources, the publication of which is the result (financial disclosure), eg grants or financing by parent institutions.

The editors of. ;Modus. Art history Journal' declare that all manifestations of scientific misconduct, especially violations and violations of ethics in force in science, will be documented.
